I believe in the power of community. Teaching dance can sometimes feel isolating, and difficult to navigate. To provide a sense of camaraderie to my fellow dance educators here are all the free tools I use myself day-to-day, plus a few more helpful articles, etc!

50+ Kid-Friendly Questions of the Week

You can only ask "what's your favourite ice cream flavour" so many times! This helps me keep track of what I have asked my kiddos so I am not repeating myself!

Two Girls Dancing

Dance Pals Bingo

This is a great way for the dancers to get to know each other at the start of the year! Here are the versions I used this season.

Teen Ballet Dancer

Feedback Form

Here is a simple 2 Stars and 1 Wish Feedback Form for students to utilize when they view a performance or assignment from a classmate. I only implement this in classes with unconditional positive regard for one another, and with clear expectations. Happy Teaching!

Group Coloring

Primary Ballet Workbook

I utilize this workbook to help students solidify the information that we learn from week to week.

To use: I direct the students to a page and place crayons in front of them. I inquire about the movement? Do they know it? Can they show it? Then I draw the movement very simply (think stick figures) on a white board in front of them. Finally, I ask them to draw the movement in their book.

Kids love to show these books to their families on "Watch Week"

Dance Certificates

I think a little recognition goes a long way! I use Dance Certificates at the end of the year for younger movers, to show them how proud I am of all they achieved over the season!

Young Ballerinas

Progress Trackers

I like to keep track of my students skill progressions throughout the dance season. This helps me at choreography time and for placements at the end of the season!

Zumba Class

30 Day Choreo Challenge

I use this in the winter or spring to revitalize my choreography muscles before launching into the marathon that is end of year recitals! It is also fun to implement for dancers in a choreography class.
